I can find no data for the estimate for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th item, but observe that the difference between the Messrs Lambert & Sons tender is £19. With regard to the 3 items for Sluice valves, where the largest discrepancy is shown, I feel little doubt that Messrs Tyler & Sons have quite misunderstood what was required.
I may state that the material for the original water supply was procured from Butterley Iron Works in Derbyshire, whose prices would be very much lower than those of a London house.
The 32 Drawings for the Sluice Valves will be prepared forthwith for transmission to England.
